Acupuncture is the insertion of thin, sterile pins at specific locations on the body for therapeutic effect.

Cupping is an ancient therapeutic technique in which glass or plastic cups are placed on areas of muscular tension, typically on the back, neck and shoulder regions. Using a flame or a small, manual pump, air is removed from inside the cup, creating suction. The cups are left in place for 5-10 minutes, or moved (“run”) along large muscle groups. The marks left by cupping are painless and typically disappear in 7-10 days. And the more cupping you get, the less discoloration you experience.

Gua sha (“scraping”) is when pressure is applied to the skin using a smooth edge, usually a jade tool or a Chinese soup spoon. The friction increases circulation and stimulates an immune response.
